Cosmetology Student Information Packet


Cosmetology takes new students twice per year:  August and January terms, only!

Interested students must attend an information session to be eligible for admission.

All sessions will be held in the Cosmetology classroom!

Mission: Our mission is to provide professional Cosmetology training for each student to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence for preparation of Florida State Licensure and a successful Beauty Industry Career.

 
 

Program D500100 consists of a planned sequence of four courses.

Grooming and Salon Services, Facials and Nails - Course CSP0009 (225 Hours) – Content includes demonstrating the practice of performing manicures, pedicures, and apply artificial nails/nail wraps. Perform facials, make-up, hair removal, and artificial lash application.

Cosmetologist and Hairdresser (1 of 3) - Course COS0002 (300 Hours) – Identify shampoo/hair conditioners and scalp treatments. Identify and perform hair shaping (cutting).

Cosmetologist and Hairdresser, (2 of 3) - Course COS0003 (300 Hours) – Identify and perform hairstyles. Identify and prepare hairpieces, wigs, and hair attachments.

Cosmetologist and Hairdresser, (3 of 3) - Course COS0009 (375 Hours) – Identify and perform permanent waving/reconstruction and curl/chemical relaxing. Identify and apply temporary/semi-permanent and permanent color/bleach and specialty color techniques.Completers may be eligible to take the Cosmetology State Examination. Those passing the exam receive the title Cosmetologist and a state license.

Distance Education: Hybrid & Traditional

Industry Certification(s): Florida Licensed Cosmetologist

Services Available: All work is performed by Cosmetology students: haircutting, shampoo and set, blow dry/curling iron, press and curl, permanent wave chemical relaxer, hair coloring, highlighting, facials, skin care, tweeze, wax, manicure, and pedicure.  To speak with an instructor, make an appointment, or to discuss costs or details, please call (727) 893-2500, extension 2329.

 
Minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirement:  75%
 
Minimum Attendance Requirement:  90%
 
Basic Skills Exit Requirement for Program CompletionStudent's competency in computation (mathematics) and communication (reading/language arts) is assessed; required basic skills grade levels are: Computation - 8 and Communication - 8.
